The Need is Real

Hunger is a growing problem in our communities. The number of people seeking food assistance has increased dramatically in recent years, due to factors such as:

  • The rising cost of housing
  • The decline in wages
  • The lack of affordable food

In Contra Costa County, 1 in 5 residents are food insecure, meaning they do not have reliable access to enough food to meet their needs. This includes 1 in 4 children.
